STEP ONE: ADMIT that WHAT YOU BELIEVE IS IMPORTANT

Your ideas about God affect your view of everything else.

Who you are.

Why you matter.

Where you'll find joy.

Whatever you think is The Biggest Reality Of All determines how you see all the other little realities.

A small child shouts "But that's not fair!" only if the child believes that there is a kind of cosmic justice that every act is measured against.

STEP TWO: WHEN DAILY LIVING CRASHES INTO WHAT YOU BELIEVE

A lot of people don't pay much attention to what they believe about The Biggest Reality Of All. Instead, they live according to what they were taught.

Until they crash into reality.

Maybe a spouse files for divorce, shaking up their image of their marriage.

Maybe a kid comes out as gay, shattering their understanding of their kid, and feeling like they never have grandkids.

Maybe a pastor falls from grace, causing them to question their church, and everyone in it.

Or they realize they cannot vote the way they used to do, because their view of human worth clashes with a particular party's policies.

We call those reality-crashes "WTF?! Moments."

When you have a WTF?! Moment, you tend to examine everything, including your beliefs about God.

Whether you're having a WTF?! Moment, or you want to take your relationship with God to the next level, discovering what you really believe, right now, is essential.

STEP THREE: FIGURe OUT WHAT YOU REALLY BELIEVE

Before you arrive at Discover The Really Real God, you'll take an assessment of your ideas and your behaviors to determine where they match, where they don't, and whether they're working for you at all.

For example:

  • If you believe God is absent or uninterested, you won't trust that God will provide for you. That will make you risk-averse, or overly dependent on your own strength.

  • If you believe God is waiting for you to mess up, you'll either hide what you're doing or you'll act like a plastic saint. That will turn you into a hypocrite or a shame-bearer.

  • If you believe God is an abusive father, you'll be scared of getting too close, and you'll be angry. And not just with God.

  • If you don't believe God exists, your view of ultimate reality will be grounded in the material world. You will likely experience the world as temporary and ultimately meaningless.

STEP FOUR: EXPLORe the GOD IDEAS FOR JOYFUL LIVING

In Discover The Really Real God, you'll explore 17 ideas about God (and people) that tend to lead to more joyful living.

Some of these ideas will be familiar, such as "God is good."

Some of the God Ideas will be new, like "Everyone has a kingdom."

We have found through years of teaching these ideas, and living with them ourselves, that together they work minor miracles of healing and hope.

During the retreat, you'll consider what living out the God Ideas might look like in your own life. You'll discuss the outcomes of particular beliefs, and how practicing a new idea could change your mind -- and your life.

STEP FIVE: TRY ON THE GOD IDEAS FOR 30 DAYS

When you leave Discover The Really Real God, you'll have a set of ideas to try on. You'll have an easy routine to use at home to help you make decisions differently. You'll have ways to evaluate the helpfulness of your ideas, and methods for changing the ideas that aren't working for you.

Try on the God Ideas for 30 days. See how understanding God and reality differently can make your daily life more open, whole, joyful, and spiritually free.
